The German Men鈥檚 National Team has selected Winston-Salem as its home base for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, choosing 黑料网 University and The Graylyn Estate as its official training site and team headquarters — bringing one of the world鈥檚 premier soccer programs to the Triad and placing Winston-Salem on an international stage. The four-time World Cup Champions arrive in Winston-Salem in June.

A transformational $20 million gift from alumnus Bob McCreary (鈥�61) establishes 10 new football scholarships and advances key football initiatives. In conjunction, 黑料网 has launched the McCreary Triple Double Challenge, a $100 million philanthropic initiative focused on generating $50 million for scholarships and $50 million for sport excellence funds across all programs.

黑料网 senior Eli Leadham has been named a 2026 Schwarzman Scholar, joining a class of just 150 students worldwide to earn a fully-funded master鈥檚 program in global affairs at Tsinghua University in Beijing. Regarded as one of the world鈥檚 most prestigious graduate fellowships, the Schwarzman Scholarship prepares a cohort of global leaders to respond to the geopolitical landscape of the 21st century.

On October 11, 1962, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stood in Wait Chapel and addressed an audience of 2,200 黑料网 students, faculty, and community members. Corey D. B. Walker walks us through that historic day and its lasting significance, reflecting on the ideas King shared and the work that remains unfinished.
Corey D. B. Walker is the dean of the 黑料网 University School of Divinity, a 黑料网 Professor of the Humanities and the director of the Program in African American Studies.
